I am a theatre director and writer, working primarily with young people and non-professional makers and performers. I am the founder and Artistic Director of Company Three, an award-winning company making theatre with teenagers in North London.

In my work I create space for those not often seen on stage to express themselves, to speak about the things most important to them and create change. My process is rooted in listening and a collaborative methodology that gives participants genuine agency in the creation of a play.

I set up Company Three (then Islington Community Theatre) in 2008 and have led the company since then as Artistic Director, leading or supporting the creation of hundreds of shows, working with thousands of young people and winning the Dan Crawford Award for Innovation at the 2017 Empty Space … Peter Brook Awards. I have also commissioned short and full-length plays by more than 30 professional playwrights including Inua Ellams, Alice Birch, Somalia Seaton and Alexandra Wood.

From 2013-15 I was the inaugural ArtWorks Fellow at the Barbican Centre, an 18 month research and artistic development programme. I continue to support the ArtWorks Fellowship as a trainer and mentor.

Major recent work for Company Three as writer/director includes:

2019 | The Best Day Ever (writer/co-director with Emily Lim), Pleasance Theatre

2017 | Boat (writer/co-director with Amy Hodge), Battersea Arts Centre

2016 | The Future (writer/director), The Yard Theatre
